Knives

Treated Hanbok Silk (2026)

tender weapons

Hahn’s Knives discards discretion. The barrier between Hahn’s emotional truth now lies under a thin, translucent veil of silk. However, their perceived violence masks the gentle hands which bore them. Each knife is cast from those who have fed her: friends, family, lovers, and mentors. Hahn carefully protects each blade she has borrowed, using a layer of plastic wrap between it and her silk adherent. Inconveniencing her loved ones by removing a well-used tool in their kitchen was an intentional part of her artistic process; one that sought to embody the paradox of love and sacrifice. Though her Knives loom threateningly, they represent the tenderness that has nourished the artist.
