Child / Miraero
Mulberry Paper, Reed Cord, LED Lights, Audio of Interviews (2026)
Fingers made big / Danji continued
미래로/ Child is the first of multiple planned 4ft tall illuminated paper sculptures with audio recordings of children projecting their imagined futures. Child is an abstracted interpretation of the syllable of “gong” in “gongdongche,” the Korean word for community.
Hahn continues to evolve her concept of Fingers/Danji in a larger scale, this time using a lantern-making technique of reed cord and mulberry paper. She collected interviews from various North Texas families, where parents conducted intimate, hopeful interviews with their children, aged from 3 months to 9 years old, incorporating the voices of the future, generation alpha into her sculpture.
For the safety of the participating families, the audio recording is only accessible in-person during the activation of the sculpture.
